And because it leverages industry-standard technologies, such as PDF, J2EE, XML, and Web services, Adobe LiveCycle Workflow is highly scalable and integrates easily into virtually any IT infrastructure.

Part of the Adobe Intelligent Document Platform, Adobe LiveCycle Workflow enables organizations to:

Using Adobe LiveCycle Workflow, both IT and business professionals can assemble workflows without coding. Reusable components, called Quick Process Action Components (QPACs), enable the rapid assembly of even the most complex workflows. In this example, each process action — entering data, routing information, sending an e-mail, or invoking a Web service — is represented by a QPAC. Business analysts then assemble workflow applications in a visual drag-and-drop environment using the QPAC building blocks.

Integrate processes with core business systems

Adobe LiveCycle Workflow supports document-based process integration with virtually any core business application, including enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM), document management, directory services, databases, and Web services. As a result, you can leverage your existing IT infrastructure to build end-to-end workflows that interact with your core systems.

Deploy processes with Intelligent Documents

End users can participate in processes using HTML or Adobe PDF forms, which facilitate data capture, decrease cycle times, and improve data quality. With intelligent forms, customers and constituents can interact with processes online or offline with PDF documents that they can save and print. Administrators can set up more secure communications with digital signatures and access rights, and they can automate the conversion of forms and documents from paper to electronic PDF files.

Manage complex workflows through an intuitive portal

Through its intuitive portal interface, Adobe LiveCycle Workflow gives enterprises unprecedented control over workflow and task management — online or offline. Initiate new workflows. Sort, manage, and respond to work assignments. Escalate, delegate, and prioritize tasks. Search for existing processes. Even add digital signatures and assess rights to enhance the security of digital communications.

Optimize processes with Business Activity Monitoring

Adobe LiveCycle Workflow's integrated Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) capabilities, real-time dashboards, and detailed reports enable enterprises to track and tune their business processes — right away. With real-time dashboards, organizations can monitor process cycle times, backlogs, work queues, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Alerts, reminders, calendars, and escalations let analysts know of potential problems before they occur — so they can take corrective action. Custom dashboards let enterprises correlate business-specific process metrics with critical enterprise data.
